Use Apple's own checker at secure.store.apple, reached from Apple's support article Check your gift card balance. You sign in with an Apple Account and enter the card's PIN.

If the card has already been redeemed, the balance has moved into that account and you check it instead by opening the App Store, tapping your photo or initials at the top of the screen, and reading the amount under your name. Apple's terms also list 1-800-MY-APPLE for balance enquiries.

Open the App Store, tap your profile picture, choose Redeem Gift Card or Code, then either scan the code with the camera or type it in. On a Mac, the same option lives in the App Store sidebar under your account name. The value lands in your Apple Account balance and is spent automatically on your next Apple purchase before any card on file is charged.

They carry different verification risks. A physical card photographed front and back, with an intact panel and ideally a receipt, is easier to trust than a bare string of characters pasted into a chat. That difference shows up in the rate. Apple's Auto Reload works differently: it tops up your Apple Account balance from a payment method on a schedule you set, which you manage under App Store, Account, then Add Funds. That is an account feature, not a card feature. Once a card's code is redeemed the card is finished.

Buy the digital version from Apple's store, enter their email address and a delivery date, and Apple sends it directly.
